DAY 01: LAO CAI – SAPA – CAT CAT                                                                                  (B, L, D)

Arriving in Lao Cai Station at 6.15 am, you will be picked up by our driver for transfer to Sapa via bus. Our bus will take a little over an hour to ride uphill to Sapa, giving you a glimpse of the stunning vistas and impressive rice terraces. Sapa is a mountainous district of Lao Cai Province. Visitor to Sapa in summer can feel the climate of four seasons in one day. In April and May, Sapa is blooming with flowers and green pastures. The clouds that settle in the valley in early morning quickly disappear into thin air.

After breakfast at hotel, we will start the trip to Cat Cat Village of Black H’mong Tribe. Visiting Cat Cat Village, you will have an opportunity to admire a lively and colorful picture. Cat Cat residents are not only good at the brocade weaving craft, but  manipulating gold and silver jewelry. Their products are fairly sophisticated, especially jewelry for women. Beside the magnificient landscape, you can visit some local families to join with their traditional custom. We can also relax at the foot of the stunning waterfall and the vestige of a hydroelectric power station that was constructed by the French during the colonial time in Vietnam.

Then we will continue moving for 6km to Sin Chai Village. People’s life in Sin Chai is simple, they earn for their living by farming, dying indigo, planting flax and weaving fabric. Their houses are traditional characteristics of the H’mong: wooden building, ground foundation and cooking fire with coal. From here you can enjoy huge stunning landscapes before trekking back to Sapa town. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the town on your own. Dinner and overnight stay at Sapa.

DAY 02: BAC HA MARKET – LAO CAI                                                                                (B, L, D)

After breakfast and check-out process, we will depart to Bac Ha market. It is the largest and most colorful market in the area and attracts a lot of villagers from the surrounding hill tribes. Some walk several hours for the weekly opportunity to trade and barter food, animals, clothes and household goods. 80km from Sapa, Bac Ha Market is not only the place for buying and selling, but also a place for cultural and sentiment exchanging. On the market days, right from the early morning, all paths and mountain roads are full of people and horses pouring to the market. People usually sit in groups around a soup pan (“thang co”) eating and chatting. Many different ethnic groups such as Flower H’mong, Phu La, Black Dao, Tay and Nung minorities gather to buy and sell local products that cannot be found elsewhere.

We will say good bye to Bac Ha Market after your lunch, then get back to Lao Cai Station for dinner. We will return to Hanoi via train, with the expected arrival time is 5.10 am.

Overnight stay on train.
