This trip concentrates on Vietnam’s diverse and fascinating cultural heritage. Start from Danang; visit Cham Museum, Marble Mountains. From Danang, we make our way to the picturesque town of Hoi An to explore this charming fishing town with ancient family homes, Chinese Assembly Halls and Japanese Covered Bridge. After that, we ascend the stunning Hai Van Pass and down into Hue, the former Imperial City. Here we can see the former residence of the Emperors inside the walls of the Citadel as well as cruising down the Perfume River.


DAY 01: HANOI – DA NANG – HOI AN                                                                                       (L, D)

Hanoi Tourism’s car and guide will meet you at your hotel. Then we will transfer to Noibai International Airport for your flight to Da Nang.

Upon arrival in Da Nang, we will have a visit to Cham Museum – the largest collection of Cham sculpture and artwork in the world. After luncheon time, we will move to Marble Mountains – a cluster of five hills made from limestone and marble. These mountains are a well-known pilgrimage site with peaks, caves, tunnels and temples all just waiting to be discovered. Named after the elements metal, wood, water, fire and earth, Marble Mountains exist in a coastal area that is renowned for stone-cutting and sculpture about 9km south of Danang.

After that, we will transfer to the ancient town of Hoi An for hotel check-in. Coming here, you will have an afternoon walking tour around the Old Sections (including many charming and wonderfully preserved architecture, combining Chinese – Japanese and European influences) and enjoy the traditional atmosphere.

After dinner, you are free to explore the “Hoi An ancient night” before coming back to the hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 02: HOI AN                                                                                                           (B, L, D)

Hoi An was a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries and its architecture and relaxed lifestyle has changed little over the years. After breakfast, we will take a walking tour around the ancient town centre to visit some of former merchants’ houses, the 400 year–old Japanese Bridge, a Chinese communal hall, and the colorful market.

In the afternoon, we will take a 3–hour cruise on the Thu Bon river with stops at some handicraft communes, including Thanh Ha pottery village, Kim Bong carpenters’ village, and a traditional shipbuilding yard.

DAY 03: HOI AN – MY SON                                                                                         (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we will move to My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a great sample of the ancient Champa civilization located in the southern part of Vietnam. Champa was an independent state from around the 2nd to the 17th century, at which time it was occupied by Vietnam. The impressive Hindu-themed ruins feature many beautiful stone sculptures, temples and towers in tropical jungle surroundings. My Son was also a political centre and a royal burial ground and the complex consists of more than 70 structures devoted to Hindu gods and goddesses and the most noticeable one, Shiva, was considered the protector of the Champa’s kings. Their skilful use of red bricks and sandstone is remarkable.

We will have lunch at a local restaurant, then return to Hoi An for dinner, free discovery and overnight stay.

DAY 04: HOI AN – HUE                                                                                                 (B, L, D)

After breakfast and hotel check-out, we will leave Hoi An for the old capital of Hue, through the Hai Van Tunnel. We will stop at Hai Van Pass (Ocean Cloud Pass) for taking photos and Lang Co Fishing Beach for coffee and refreshments en route.

In the afternoon, we will have a bicycle tour around Hue City, with a view to some famous tourist attractions there. The first stop will be the Imperial City, including the Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City. Our next stop will be Hue Museum of Royal Fine Arts (a gallery of antiques displaying collections of bronze, pottery, chinaware, Phap Lam enamel, court robes, head-gear and personal belongings of former Vietnam Emperors) and Dong Ba Market (a paradise for snapshots of daily activities as well as for shopping with everything from souvenir items to bronze goods, Hue sesame sweetmeat, conical poem hats, just to name a few).

DAY 05: HUE                                                                                                                   (B, L, D)

After breakfast at hotel, we will start a day by taking a leisure boat trip on the romantic Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda (Heavenly Lady Pagoda). This is a well-known pagoda in Hue, which is located on Ha Khe hill in Huong Long commune. It possesses an ancient architecture style which is regarded as one of the most beautiful in Hue. Then we will proceed to visit Minh Mang’s Tomb, the most majestic of all Nguyen Dynasty royal tombs. This tomb is a complex of 40 constructions, including many palaces, temples, pavillons, etc. Many said that it’s a perfect combination of manmade and natural beauty of Hue, where architecture fits harmoniously into the surrounding landscape.

Following your luch at a nice restaurant, we will visit Tu Duc’s Tomb, one of the most beautiful works of the Nguyen dynasty, with romantic scenery of mounts and lakes. Built decades before its occupant’s death, the tomb was used as a palace retreat before its final use as the emperor’s resting place. We will finish up a day at Khai Dinh’s Tomb, which is traditional Vietnamese in design but accented with a European touch, making it unique from the other tombs in Hue.

DAY 06: HUE – HANOI                                                                                                            (B)

After breakfast at hotel, you will be free for your own leisure until transfer to airport for your departure flight, ending your unforgettable experience with Hanoi Tourism.
