Hanoi – Sapa – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Ham Rong – Cat Cat (4 nights 3 days)

At an altitude of 1650 m, located at the edge of the side of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, Sa Pa is one of the most picturesque and tranquil locations in all of Vietnam. Once a French hill station, the area is home to a number of ethnic minority communities, including the Black H’Mong and Red Dzao, among others. Sa Pa’s breathtaking beauty comes in the form hills, valleys, mountains, streams and waterfalls, not to mention the warmth of the locals.

NIGHT 01: HANOI – LAO CAI                                                                                                        

Hanoi Tourism’s guide will meet you at your hotel then transfer to Hanoi Railway Station for Lao Cai Province. Lao Cai is one of the several provinces situated on the Sino-Vietnamese borderline. It is in the northwestern part of the country, with some remarkable features such as biologic diversification and typical mountainous climate. Apart from the Kinh people, the province has several ethnic minority groups including the H’mong, the Tay, the Dao and the Thai peoples.

DAY 01: LAO CAI – CAT CAT                                                                                    (B, L, D)

Arriving in Lao Cai Station at 6.00 am, you will be picked up by our driver for transfer to Sapa via bus. Our bus will take a little over an hour to ride uphill to Sapa, giving you a glimpse of the stunning vistas and impressive rice terraces. Sapa is a mountainous district of Lao Cai Province. Visitor to Sapa in summer can feel the climate of four seasons in one day. In April and May, Sapa is blooming with flowers and green pastures. The clouds that settle in the valley in early morning quickly disappear into thin air.

You will have free time for your own leisure at Sapa after having breakfast, following by lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, we will trek around Cat Cat Village of H’Mong Tribe in the valley, located at about 2km from Sapa Townlet, Sapa District. Visiting Cat Cat Village, you will have an opportunity to admire a lively and colorful picture. Cat Cat residents are not only good at the brocade weaving craft, but  manipulating gold and silver jewelry. Their products are fairly sophisticated, especially jewelry for women. Beside the magnificient landscape, you can visit some local families to join with their traditional custom.

At 4.00 pm, we will move back to Sapa for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 02: SAPA – LAO CHAI – TA VAN – SAPA                                                      (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we will start our trekking tour to Lao Chai Village of the Dzay minority. View from air, Lao Chai lies in between mountains and grass hills, with houses that look like colossal mushrooms on all sides, at 2,660m above the sea-level. Visitors to the village are able to enjoy the traditional musics of boys and girls playing the game ‘hire and seek in a blanket’ and exchange songs overnight even after the festival, the boy can bring the girl they played with to their home and marry her. In this village which you will have a welcome feeling  at any house of the hospitable people there. You can interact with them, learn about their culture and customs.

We will have lunch at Lao Chai, following by free discovery around the village. Then we will visit Ta Van Village of the Red Dzao. Ta Van is a small village set within a picturesque valley of Muong Hoa. Ta Van village is set within a picturesque valley with amazing natural landscape and friendly local people. The area is well-known for its colorful ethnic minorities. Visiting Ta Van Village will be an unforgettable experience, since you will have a chance to witness the special cultural characteristics of local people.

At the end of the day, we will return to Sapa via jeeps, for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 03: SAPA – HAM RONG – LAO CAI                                                                 (B, L, D)

Following the breakfast at hotel, we will walk up to Ham Rong Mountain with elevator steps. Ham Rong Mountain, which is situated in the center of Sapa town, is a remarkable tourist attraction. Shaped like a dragon’s head in the clouds, Ham Rong Mountain is nearly 2000 meters high with green trees and colorful flowers almost all year round. Most tourists visiting Sapa do the exciting climb up to the mountain. Recently, this tourist site has been upgraded, in which there will be traditional art performance show for tourists when visiting Ham Rong. The path leading up to Ham Rong Mountain consists of many stone steps and a winding trail higher up will help to see small streams lazily run through bushy foliages. About mid­way, visitors will find themselves in an orchid -garden with more than 400 species of colorful blooms. Standing on the highest point of Ham Rong Mountain, tourists will have a breathtaking view over the romantic Sapa town.

Lunch is served at 12.00 am at hotel, then you will have free time for your own leisure. We will have an early dinner at about 4.00 pm, before getting to Lao Cai Station to catch your night train back to Hanoi.
